Nathan Vieland adapts stylistic elements from his former profession as a patent illustrator into his illustrations and animations. Influenced by surrealism and speculative fiction, his work examines issues of property, originality and technological progress. He is currently pursuing a visual arts MFA at The University of California, San Diego, where he is focusing on VR and computer generated imagery.
